Hahnemühle German Etching Fine Art Print

Signed and Numbered by the Artist

A woman of valor, who can find? Her worth is far beyond that of rubies….

So begins the beautiful ode to the woman of the household, sung at the beginning of the Shabbat evening meal, immediately before Kiddush. Lovingly, my father would sing it to my mother each Shabbat and it was always my favourite moment of the evening – encompassing all of the gratitude I had for her and also it was so special to witness the unhidden moment of love between my parents. Besides a song of gratitude and recognition for the hard-working woman of the household, the Jewish mystical school of thought suggests Eishet Chayil is sung in honor of the Shechina – the feminine Divine Presence – which the mystics say is more accessible to us on the night of Shabbat
